Note: if you signed up for the United Health Care plan in 2009 your membership for AARP was paid for. If you received a renewal of your AARP membership you do NOT have to renew it to maintain your supplemental insurance and in fact if your have sent in your renewal and do not want to be a member of AARP you can request a refund.
If you are signing up for the first time in 2010 you may need to join AARP to be able to sign up for the insurance. Once you have the insurance you can cancel your membership at any time and you do not have to renew it.
